THREADLINES

About this event

Bringing together five First Nations artists across residency pathways in an exhibition shaped by weaving, journey and connection.

The conceptual thread centres on pathways, journey, connection and weaving, both literally and metaphorically. Weaving operates as a connective device across practices, linking poetry, film, material culture and community storytelling, while foregrounding First Nations leadership, intergenerational exchange and shared making.

The exhibition is curated by Nicole Monks, who also mentored across both residency programs. Developed through a collaborative curatorial process, THREADLINES emerges from dialogue, shared making and relational practice. Monks’ approach centres connection creating a framework where individual and collective works interweave, and where community, story and exchange sit at the core of the exhibition’s formation.

Bringing together five artists across residency and emerging pathways, THREADLINES features:

The exhibition will include individual works by each artist; collaborative works developed through the residency programs and public programs incorporating Elders and community participation.

As part of this exhibition, Nicole will engage with Barada Bana, Yuin and Cammeraygal Elder, Auntie Jeanie Moran to guide the artists and share cultural protocols and stories of place.
