Lumen Printing Workshop
About this event
Lumen prints are made by exposing light-sensitive silver gelatin (darkroom) paper to light and objects. It is a camera-less technique, where direct contact between the photographic surface, other matter, and light renders an image. Lumen printing is a quick and ephemeral process that responds to many variables. Depending on the time of day, available light, UV index, temperature, and duration of exposure, the paper has the potential to turn a variety of colours and tones.
After an introductory demonstration and chat about the process, participants will be guided in making their own lumen prints from found natural materials and objects brought from home. These prints will be chemically fixed during the workshop and participants will take them home on the day.
